Banana Berry Fruit Smoothie
We can’t prove it, but strawberries might be the most popular fruit in the world. Science recognizes more than 20 different individual species and there are many “subspecies” as well. I think its interesting that it takes a count of the number of chromosomes to determine if a plant is, or is not, a strawberry. Regardless, they all taste wonderful.
This is a traditional smoothie recipe that provides a lot of fruit goodness just like it is but this recipe also challenges you to substitute the strawberries for any other type of berry you might prefer. Blueberries, Blackberries, or Raspberries will all work very well in this mix.
You could also increase the fruit taste by making use of fruit flavored yogurt instead of vanilla or plain.
Like almost all smoothie recipes, it is up to you!
In your favorite blender mix:
– 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: Peel and slice BEFORE FREEZING!)
– 1/2 cup of plain non-fat yogurt
– 1 cup of milk (soy, low-fat or coconut)
– 1/2 cup of fresh raspberries or strawberries
– 1 Tbsp. Chia seed
Put everything into the blender at the same time and churn until smooth.
