Bananas are a favorite of almost everybody, its difficult to find someone who doesn’t like bananas. Plus, fresh or frozen, a banana is a wonderful smoothie ingredient because they mix so well with so many other ingredients. But Prunes are another story altogether.

Prunes have something a bad reputation is being a fruit that is meant only for senior citizens with constipation. But if, as is the case, a prune is nothing more than a dried plum and plums are high in both dietary fiber and antioxidants, then its true that prunes are a high value fruit for everyone. So, regardless of your age, be adventurous and give this Banana and Prune smoothie a try. It’s super easy to make and delicious as well.

In your smoothie blender mix:

  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
  • 5 prunes (Call them ‘dried plums” if you want)
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon Chia seed (optional)
