When made correctly, a Banana smoothie recipe will always come out thick and creamy and you can use a variety of other ingredients to come up with a whole bunch of delicious and nutritious smoothies.
For example, this recipe uses a tablespoon of Chia seed for added nutrition. Unlike flax seed, Chia has no taste of its own so adding it doesn’t change the banana goodness. Plus, Chia has a whole range of nutrition including cholesterol fighting, heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids.
In your favorite blender
- A ripe banana
- Low fat Milk -approx 1/2 cup
- Ice cubes about 4-6
- Vanilla extract-about 1/2-1 tsp
- 1 tablespoon Chia seed
Here’s a tip: If you freeze the banana you won’t need as much ice to help cool the smoothie. Just be sure to peel and chunk the banana before freezing.
