basic banana smoothie

So many smoothie recipes call for bananas because they are perfect for providing some consistency to the mix that would otherwise be very runny. Here is a very basic banana smoothie that is extremely easy to make and provides a great starting point to add some fun optional ingredients, or not!

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: peel and slice BEFORE freezing
  • 1/2 cup low fat or no fat milk (soy milk works well too)
  • 1 tbs. chopped nuts for garnish (walnuts, almonds, pecans)
  • 1 tsp. Chia seed

The beauty of this very basic banana smoothie is how easy it is to modify to your own taste. Adding a tsp of peanut butter, or a bit of coffee, or even a drop or two of chocolate syrup changes the taste completely without complicating the recipe.
