berry banana tofu smoothie

Before getting to the actual recipe for a berry banana tofu smoothie, are you sure you know what tofu is and how it comes to be? Well, if not, here’s what Wikipedia has to say about tofu:
“Tofu, also known as bean curd, is a food made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks.” Wikipedia has a lot more to say about tofu and you can read all about it here.

For our purposes its probably enough to know that tofu is really high in protein and really low in calories which make it a great candidate for a smoothie recipe. So here is our take on tofu in a “Berry Banana Tofu Smoothie:

In your favorite blendermix:

– 1 cup frozen mixed berries
– 1 cup of frozen banana chunks
– 1 package of light siken tofu (we used Mori Nu, which is about 12 ounces)
– 3/4 cup of chilled white grape juice
– 1 Tbsp Chia seed
– 1 package of sugar substitute or 1 tablespoon of honey if you want to make it a little sweeter
