Bananas are a supporting player in countless smoothie recipes but here it is a featured player in a Banana Apricot smoothie recipe that is really satisfying.

Apricots are, in some ways, an “under the radar” fruit. While they don’t have the popularity of a other fruits like berries they shouldn’t be discounted. For example, what other fruit has been immortalized in a popular song: “You walked into the party like your were walking onto a yacht/Your hat strategically dipped below one eye/Your scarf it was apricot…”. For the younger set, the song was written and first performed by Carly Simon in 1972.

Anyway, try this Banana Apricot smoothie, I think you’ll like it.

  • 1 full cup Apricot Nectar
  • 2 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: Peel and slice BEFORE FREEZING!)
  • 1/2 cup low or reduced fat milk
  • 2 oz. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. Chia seed (Optional)
  • Ice to taste (if you don’t freeze the bananas, you will probably use more)

This recipe makes enough for both you and a friend.

A very tasty apricot honey smoothie recipe with only four ingredients. Easy to make and a good choice for a breakfast or a snack later in the day.

Apricots offer vitamins, minerals, fiber, and are low in calories too. Their flavor is not as strong as some other fruits so any apricot smoothie recipe has to be careful not to overwhelm the apricots and this recipe does that very well.

Note: take the time to pit, peel, and chop your apricots for easier blending

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1/2 cup fresh apricots
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice (Fresh is better than concentrate)
  • 1/2 cup plain or Vanilla low fat Greek Yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey (or to taste)
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp.Chia seed

This Orange Sherbet smoothie has just two ingredients but it provides a great deal of taste and enjoyment. Use canned or frozen apricots to enjoy this one all year.

Its also easy to turn this orange sherbet smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.

In your favorite blender mix:

1 cup of canned apricot halves, chilled and cut in smaller chunks
1 cup (8 oz.) orange sherbert

1 Tbsp. Chia seed

Blend quickly and serve in chilled glasses. Garnish with an orange slice if you wish.

I think that Apricots are often overlooked, probably because of their pretty short growing season. If you haven’t thought about them lately you probably should. Not only are they rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C, Apricots are very high in fiber and are really low in saturated fat. As an additional bonus, Apricots have -0- cholesterol. Combined with Strawberries in this Apricot Strawberry smoothie, they really come into their own. Try this one soon.

Its also easy to turn this Apricot Strawberry smoothie treat into even more of a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. In your favorite blender mix:

4 medium Apricots, pitted
1 medium Apple, seeded and peeled
1 cup Strawberries
handful of baby Spinach
1 medium carrot, peeled and sliced
