grapefruit berry smoothie

To me, you either love grapefruit or you don’t. Personally I have never met anyone who is just so-so about the fruit. But, even if you are not a fan, you have to admit that grapefruit is a great source of vitamin C, lycopene, and other nutrients. This grapefruit berry smoothie recipe uses both blueberries and strawberries as well as grapefruit juice. Even if you count yourself among those that aren’t usually grapefruit fans, you should give this mix a try.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 1/2 cups pink grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: Peel and slice BEFORE FREEZING!)
  • Ice to taste

Grapefruit Strawberry Smoothie Recipe:

When you add smoothies to your daily meal plans you are, in effect, adding an almost endless combination of fruit and other flavors that don’t really happen anyplace else.

Such is the case with this smoothie. Grapefruit and strawberries are not a combination that you would normally come up with but, here, they work great together.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 cup fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • Frozen banana (peel and slice BEFORE freezing!)
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. honey

If you want the results to be a bit sweeter, add a second tbsp. of honey to the mix.

For some, there isn’t anything much better than a Grapefruit and making a Grapefruit smoothie in the morning is the best way to start the day. As a fruit, Grapefruit is very healthy, loaded with vitamin A and beta-carotene. It’s tart and tangy taste is refreshing and unique. Even though this smoothie also adds banana and strawberries, it is still very much a Grapefruit smoothie!

You can easily turn this already healthy Grapefruit smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.

In your favorite blender mix:

1 peeled and sliced ruby red grapefruit (for a smoother smoothie, remove any seeds as well)
1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 previously frozen banana (peel and slice before freezing)
1/2 cup Vanilla Greek yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice (fresh is better than concentrate)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon honey
1 Tbsp. Chia seed

In my experience there are two type of people in the world; those who like Grapefruit juice and those that don’t. If you are among those that don’t leave now. But, if you are among those that do, here is one of many good breakfast recipes that make great use of this tangy fruit.

Its also very easy to turn this tangy smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.
Tomorrow morning, try this delicious grapefruit smoothie. that is filled with a wide variety of vitamins, potassium, magnesium, fiber and omega 3’s.

Tomorrow morning, fire up your trusty blender and mix:

½ cup of cold pink grapefruit juice
½ cup of fresh or frozen strawberries
1 cup of fresh or frozen peach slices
1 tbsp Chia seed

Put everything in at the same time and blend, adding a couple of ice cubes if you need to make it a thinner consistency.  If you like, add a tablespoon of honey if you want to sweeten (or a pack of artificial sweetener).
