fruit smoothies with yogurt

If you poke around smoothies even a little bit you will very quickly notice that there a whole lot of fruit smoothies with yogurt vying for your attention. To complicate things even a bit more, now there are a lot recipes calling for “Greek” yogurt.

Do you know the difference between “Greek yogurt” and regular yogurt? Don’t be embarrassed if not because you are not alone.

Greek yogurt is yogurt which has been strained to remove its whey, which gives the yogurt a thicker consistency than normal yogurts, while still preserving yogurt’s distinctive, sour taste. It is also sometimes called “strained” yogurt, or “yogurt cheese”.

So, now that we know that, here is another of the many fruit smoothies with yogurt!
In your favorite blender mix:
1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: Peel and slice BEFORE freezing)
2 cups frozen berries of your choice (strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries)
1 cup milk (again, your choice)
1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
2 to 3 tablespoons honey or your choice of sweetener; to taste
