Nectarines and Peaches are very similar but they are different fruits. Visually, the easiest way to tell the two apart is the Nectarine doesn’t have fuzz on its skin. Nectarines have a stronger, more pronounced flavor than peaches and this Vanilla Nectarine smoothie is the better for it. When it comes to choosing healthy breakfast foods, you could do much worse!
Its also easy to turn this healthy smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.
In your favorite blender mix:
2 nectarines, pitted and sliced
1 cup Greek Vanilla yogurt
1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
1 Orange skinned, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup Orange juice
1 tbsp. Honey
1 Tbsp. Chia seed
