I’m pretty certain you would agree that there is more than enough advice about eating healthy and nutrition. The internet, vitamin store, library, and book store are all stocked full with all sorts of books and magazines on all aspects of quick weight loss and nutrition.
In this piece, I want to take just a bit different tack and take a closer look at some of the foods we should all be eating more of both to lose weight but also because these foods offer a wide array of healthy nutrients our human bodies crave for proper operation.
yogurt has been with us for almost 6,000 years and is still a popular food all over the world. Because it is created by the bacterial fermentation of milk yogurt is rich in healthful “probiotics” which are healthy bacteria that seem to decrease the risk of some cancers, stomach ulcers, and digestive tract problems.
2. Fatty Fish:
Fish like salmon, sardines, and mackerel are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Research is continually learning more and more about how beneficial omega-3 is to our overall health.
Beans are an excellent source of dietary fiber and protein. Recent studies indicate that specifically lentils, but also beans in general have some protective benefits against breast cancer. Legumes like peas, lentils, peanuts, and beans also have a positive impact on cardiovascular disease.
Or any fruit or vegetable high in Lycopene. Other sources are navel oranges, red grapefruit and watermelon. Among other properties, lycopene protects the skin against UV rays.
5. Milk (or orange juice) fortified with vitamin D:
vital in helping the skeleton absorb calcium out of the gut and also reduces the possibility of osteoporosis
blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, almost any type of berry. Berries have the anti-cancer nutrient Anthocyanin which help repair cell damage.
Adding these six healthy foods to your diet won’t, by themselves, guarantee you good health and long life but they will certainly help.
Two other foods that should be on your menu are sweet potatoes because they are a super source of Beta-carotene, vitamin C, and potassium. And red cabbage which is loaded with vitamins K, D, and A.
