Fruit juices are great when you use natural or “organic” juices that don’t have a lot of sugar and other preservatives in them. In our world of smoothies healthy juice recipes are everywhere and this is one very good example. Mixing the juices of mangoes and oranges is only the start of this delightful smoothie.
Optional is the use of Chia seed in the recipe. While you may know this seed only from the “Chia Pet” commercials, Chia is a storehouse of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega-3 fatty acids. Even better, Chia has no taste to its own so adding it won’t change the results of the recipe in any way. Chia is available in any health food store, or through Amazon by clicking on the link here.
In your favorite blender mix:
- 1/2 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 tsp grated fresh ginger root
- 1 tbsp coconut milk
- 1/4 cup fresh mango juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- Ice to Taste
- 1 Tbsp. Chia seed (Optional)
