The mid day meal can be a problem but there are healthy lunch recipes you can whip up that will satisfy and provide the energy required to power through the rest of the day well into the evening. This Chocolate peanut butter smoothie is one such recipe.
First, I have to stress that this smoothie recipe is NOT one you should lose if you are following a weight loss program. According to several sources, Peanut Butter contains 94 calories per tablespoon. This recipe calls for three tablespoons so the recipe has 282 calories in this one ingredient alone. You should also be aware that Peanut butter has more than a gram and a half of saturated fat per tablespoon as well. None of these numbers are terrible nutritionally, especially when Peanut Butter is used only every now and then.
This smoothie recipe also calls for 3 tablespoons of chocolate sauce. Chocolate is another food that isn’t known for being low in calories.
In the end, however, we eat food to supply energy to our bodies and all its various components to function correctly. The challenge, especially today, is to eat a balanced diet that supplies the required food energy without eating foods that are loaded with calories, fat, and carbohydrates.
So, why use this smoothie as one of your healthy lunch recipes?
Because there are times when we want to supply the body with energy fuel. And there are other times when we just want to treat ourselves to something that just tastes great.
This smoothie recipe is for those times.
