The lowest part of my day is late mornings. For some reason I just run out of both interest and energy around 11 or so and just want to take a nap. Unfortunately, my employer doesn’t really like the employees being sacked out half way through the work day. Indeed, they seem to only prize high energy employees for some reason.
So, what to do?
Lately, I have been combating this urge to sleep on my desk with an earlier than usual lunch consisting of a high energy fruit smoothie. I have been bringing it to work using a Yeti Rambler Tumbler 30 OZ. This is a great traveler cup and keeps my smoothie cool for quite some time. They aren’t cheap but quality rarely is.
Anyway, here is the “high energy” smoothie recipe I have used a couple of times. I really like the taste and it keeps me going for quite some time.
- 1/4 cup sliced avocado
- 1/2 cup low fat milk (or your choice)
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1 banana, frozen, peeled and sliced (TIP: peel and slice BEFORE freezing!)
- 1/2 cup frozen mango pieces
- 1/2 cup peach nectar
- 1 tbsp. Chia seed
This is just one recipe you can try and I think a “high energy” smoothie beats coffee any day; unless, of course, the coffee is in a smoothie!
