We have said it before and it bears repeating; Smoothies are a great way to provide the after school crowd a healthier and more nutritious treat than the usual pre-packaged fair. Even if your kids are at the age where everything has to be sweet this Honey and mixed fruit smoothie recipe has your back. While this is not the lowest calorie smoothie around, it isn’t terrible and will certainly tide your little ones over until the evening meal.
In your favorite blender mix:
- 1 Tbsp. Honey
- 1 1/2 cup cold O.J. (Fresh is best but, really, any type but concentrate!)
- 1 cup Strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 frozen banana (TIP 1: Peel and slice the Banana BEFORE FREEZING!)
- 1 cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- 1 Tbsp. Chia Seed
Combine everything in the blender and mix until you reach your preferred consistency.
TIP 2: If you haven’t used a frozen banana and frozen strawberries but still want a colder drink, add about a half cup of ice as well.
