Guava fruit is popular for two reasons: One, they are really quite tasty and two, they offer a lot of nutrition. In this Honey Sweet Orange Smoothie they are combined with lemon juice and honey to create a pretty unique breakfast treat.
Its also easy to turn this smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of either Chia or flax seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own so adding it won’t change the delicious results. However if your prefer Flax to Chia they will work just fine.
In your favorite blender mix:
- 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: peel and slice banana BEFORE FREEZING)
- 1 guava fruit, halved and pulp removed
- 1 cup Orange juice (fresh if possible, it will always taste better)
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. Chia seed or Flax seed
If having a cold drink is a goal and you used fresh instead of frozen bananas you will probably want to add a few ice cubes to the mix.
