Lemon lime is a tart and tangy taste that adds a lot of interest to a smoothie recipe. Plus, Limes have some unique history. Did you know that, in India, the lime is used in Tantra to remove evil spirits? Here, the lime continues it work in removing evil influences.
Begin by peeling a lemon lime and an orange and then in your smoothie blender mix:
– 1/2 lemon, seeded and cut in chunks
– 1/2 lime, seeded and cut in chunks
– 1 orange, seeded and cut in chunks
– 2 cups of frozen banana chunks
– 1 to 1 1/2 cups of spinach (or kale)
– 1 tbsp. Chia seed
The Chia seed is optional but, should you include it, you will be including a whole range of additional nutritional value including heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own so adding it to the recipe will not change the results
How “juicy” the citrus is will be the key to whether or not you need to add some ice cubes or crushed ice to thin out the smoothie. Or, if you want-you can add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of lemonade or orange juice.
