Guava can be found growing in Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Florida and typically is used in salads and jams and many tropical drinks! But no matter where you live, you can enjoy this delicious fruit for breakfast by mixing up this smoothie recipe:
- 2 ripe guavas, peeled, seeded and chopped into pieces (frozen guava can also be used-if so reduce the amount of milk by approximately 1/4 cup)
- 1 1/2 cups of cold milk (soy, low fat or evaporated)
- 4 Tbsp of honey
- 2 limes
- 4 ice cubes
- 1 tsp Chia seed
In the blender first mix the guava chunks and milk till smooth. Add the juice of two limes and honey next. Add 2 ice cubes and mix, then add if the smoothie is too thick add a few more ice cubes mixing until your smoothie is a rich and creamy texture. Pour and top with a lime wedge and serve!
Note: You might not need the ice cubes or, you might need to add more ice cubes, it will all depend on the ripeness of the fruit. So don’t be afraid to make recipe adjustments with the liquids and ice that you add to your smoothie recipes. Your goal is to create a delicious drink and some on-the-spot changes might be needed if the fruit is very ripe.
