There are quite a few smoothies drunk for breakfast each day. I have no idea about the actual number but I would imagine it to be pretty large.

I bring this up because of this article from Yahoo Lifestyle. In it, the authors point out that eating a breakfast made from foods with a low glycemic index can help to lower your blood pressure as well as keep you feeling fuller longer.

For some reason the article doesn’t list any foods that are low on the glycemic index so I will do that here

  • Low fat yogurt
  • Plums
  • Pears
  • Spinach
  • Cherries
  • Peaches
  • Apple Juice

There are many more on the list but you get the idea; it is really easy to construct a smoothie from low glycemic foods which, in turn, will help keep you healthy.
