We’re using Greek yogurt in the following mixed berry yogurt smoothie recipe.
Greek Yogurt is becoming evermore popular because of its lower fat content and interesting consistency that is stiffer than regular yogurt. Wikipedia says it “has been strained to remove its whey, resulting in a relatively thick consistency, while preserving yogurt’s distinctive, sour taste”.
This thicker consistency makes Greek yogurt a particularly good choice in any smoothie recipe that calls for yogurt like this one!
In your favorite blender mix:
- 2 cups of mixed frozen (or fresh) berries
- 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: Peel and slice BEFORE FREEZING!)
- 2 cups cold orange juice
- 1 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt
Put all the ingredients in your blender at the same time and blend until you reach the consistency you like best.
For an added bit of healthy, add a Tbsp. of Chia or flax seed to the mix. I prefer Chia because it doesn’t have much of a taste of its own.
