papaya fruit smoothie

The Papaya fruit offers a mild tropical flavor that plays very well with a number of other popular smoothie ingredients like bananas and pineapples. Papaya fruit makes a particularly good smoothie because of its creamy texture when blended.

Nutritionally, papayas are a good source of A, E, and C vitamins as well as fiber, antioxidants, and potassium. Recently, some nutritional studies have indicated that a diet rich in papaya fruit may very well help in the prevention of heart diseases and stroke. So, there isn’t a lot not to like about papaya fruit, especially when you realize how low in calories the fruit is.

This smoothie mix uses a healthy mix of fruit and veggies to provide an exceptionally healthy meal. In your favorite blender mix:

  • 2 1/3 cups papaya, peeled and without seeds
  • 1 sliced pear, without core
  • 1 sliced orange, without peel
  • 2 cups leafy green such as baby spinach or Kale
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 1 cup cold filtered water

For even more nutritional value, include a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.
