Generally speaking, green smoothies are recipes that include both raw leafy greens like Kale and Spinach and fruit of various types to smooth out the taste. There are quite literally thousands of green smoothie recipes and new ones are developed all the time.
This example of a green smoothie recipe combines Peaches and baby Spinach, two items you wouldn’t normally expect to peacefully coexist but here they do, and really well!
The recipe is mad even more nutritious with the addition of a tablespoon of Chia seed. Unlike flax seed, Chia has no taste of its own so adding it to the mix isn’t going to change the results. Further, Chia contains a wide range of nutritional value including antioxidants and heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids.
In your favorite blender mix the following:
A generous handful of baby spinach leaves (or Kale if you perfer)
1 cup sliced peaches (fresh or frozen)
1 cup of filtered water (or 2 cups of crushed ice, if you prefer a colder drink)
(Optional) 1 Tbs. Chia seed, or flax seed if you prefer
