Some days are just harder than others. For the hard days, it is important to have a breakfast with enough nutritional value to get both your mind and your body prepared for the day ahead. Here is a power smoothie recipe to get those hard days started right.

Although we call this a Power smoothie, at it’s heart this smoothie is a pretty basic banana smoothie recipe made even better with some Carnation brand instant breakfast powder.

Its also easy to add even more nutritional value to this smoothie treat by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Perhaps best known as the plant in “Chia Pets”, Chia seed itself are a natural seed that contain a surprisingly large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 previously frozen banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup soy or skim milk
  • 1 pack of Carnation Instant Breakfast
    mix (your choice of flavor)
  • 1 tbsp. Chia seed
  • Ice to taste
