protein rich smoothie

Protein is present in every cell of our bodies and, aside from water, is present in greater amounts than any other molecule. We need a lot of protein for efficient maintenance of the body structure. This protein rich smoothie recipe provides a lot of natural protein in a delicious treat.

As a bonus, this is a really easy recipe to put together.

In your favorite blender mix:

– 3/4 cup Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
– 1/3 cup egg whites
– 1 cup frozen mixed berries (fresh berries work too, if you have them)
– 1 Tbsp. Chia or Flax seed (I prefer Chia for a number of reasons but if you prefer Flax so be it!)

The ingredients above are all “natural” but, if you wish, you can easily add protein powder in place of the Chia or Flax seeds. I haven’t done this but I see no reason why it wouldn’t work. One note: if female you might want to use protein powders that have been blended with your needs in mind. One of many is Garden of Life RAW Organic Protein available from Amazon.
