You can make this simple strawberry smoothie year around using fresh or frozen strawberries.
- 3/4-1 cup of sliced strawberries*
- ½ cup of low-fat Greek yogurt (plain, vanilla or strawberry)
- 1 cup of milk (2%, low-fat or soy)
- 1 Tbsp. Chia seed
Directions: Blend all ingredients together until texture is creamy and smooth. *Add a few more ice cubes if your smoothie is too thick. It will often depend if you are using fresh or frozen fruit. That is one of the great things about smoothies. There is no “exact”……that amount of fruit, and whether fresh or frozen, let’s you create a meal/drink that is perfect, just for you !
Its also easy to turn this Strawberry smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.
Pour into a chilled glass and serve.
