This Strawberry Watermelon smoothie recipe is just great on a hot summer’s day. Not too sweet and very nutritious. They taste so darn good it is hard to believe that the watermelon is about 90% water! But that’s a good thing too because we all need to stay hydrated.
The Chia seed here is an optional ingredient but, should you choose to include it, you will be adding a great deal of additional nutrition including important heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Even better, unlike flax seed, Chia doesn’t need to be ground and it won’t change the results of this recipe by adding it. That is because Chia does not really have any taste of its own to interact with the other ingredients.
To make this delicious Strawberry Watermelon smoothie, in your smoothie blender mix:
-4 cups of watermelon
-1 cup strawberry sherbet or sorbet
-1 frozen banana (peeled and chunked prior to freezing)
-1 tsp. Chia seed
-Ice to taste
