Blueberries, full of nutrients and flavor, yet very low in calories are rich with the antioxidants all of us require for healthy living. Creating the following Blueberry Banana Greek Yogurt Smoothie mix of fresh, or even frozen blueberries is one very tasty way to add many essential vitamins in a healthy quick meal.

Its also easy to turn this smoothie treat into even more of a health boosting nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.

In your favorite blender mix:

1 cup Blueberries, fresh or frozen
1 large frozen banana (peel and sliced before freezing!)
1 cup of low-fat Greek yogurt, vanilla is a nice choice to mix these flavors
1 tbsp Chia seed

tropical smoothy

Mango fruit is sometimes called “the king of fruits” and there is reason for that. Mango fruit is unquestionably one of the most popular and nutritionally valuable fruits around. The Mango has a distinct flavor, smell, taste, and is ridiculously healthy. A good outline of the healthy qualities is available here.

For our use in smoothies, the mango is a low fat, delicious treat that can be easily combined with a wide variety of juices and yogurts to create a refreshing, healthy, and tasty treat.

In this tropical smoothy mango is mixed with other tropical goodies, coconut and pineapple. Together these three ingredients create a tropical smoothy that everyone in your family will certainly enjoy!

Let’s face it, it’s recipes like this one that give smoothies their great reputation for being both really tasty and really healthy at the same time.

Its also easy to turn this tropical smoothy treat into even more of a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious tropical results.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 mango cut in chunks
  • 1 can of pineapple chunks with the juice (Keep in the refrigerator to chill before using)
  • 1 cup of low-fat coconut Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. Chia seed

Mix all the ingredients in your blender at once until smooth–and if you want to serve as a special treat you can add some shredded coconut as a garnishe.

If you are not watching your calories and want to “splurge” you can substitute the yogurt for a cup of coconut milk which is quite good, but it is also high in calories.

Corn flakes, smoothie recipes, raspberry smoothie

Well, yes, corn flakes can be used as a smoothie ingredient. In fact they are quite good. We haven’t tried all the potential permutations yet but this one is really, really good.

At its heart, this smoothie is a pretty traditional Raspberry smoothie. But! Adding flakes gives it a bit more body than you would think and adds a whole lot of fun as well.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 cup milk (your choice, whole, soy, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yougart
  • 1/2 cup Raspberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup corn flakes
  • Sweetener to taste (honey, or whatever your favorite is)
  • After blending, serve in a glass with a bit more flakes on top. This is a pretty simple smoothie to make but delivers a lot of satisfaction and taste.

Fruit Fact: Raspberries are in the same family as the Rose which seems very fitting. Also, raspberries are really tasty and that fact is proved in the raspberry Greek yogurt smoothie below.

With just four ingredients, this shouldn’t take more than about five or six minutes to throw together. Great for a quick and healthy breakfast or anytime you want a little something until the next meal.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 cup raspberries (fresh if available but frozen works too)
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (this is one six ounce container if you have it)
  • 1 Tbsp. honey (about 65 calories, so not bad!)
  • Ice to taste, probably about a cup
  • 1 Tbsp Chia seed (Optional but a good choice)
