Do you have a vegetarian in the family? If so, this Banana and mixed Berries vegan smoothie is pure vegan and very healthy as well.

One drawback to a vegan diet is that is can be difficult to ensure you are also getting the whole range of important nutrients to keep the body well fueled. This problem is easily solved by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed to this vegan smoothie treat. Although not as well known as Flax seed, Chia is a natural seed that adds even a larger measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 2 cups Cranberry Juice
  • 2 previously frozen bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups mixed berries (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 tbsp. Chia seed
