zesty pineapple smoothie

Pineapple is maybe the best of all the tropical fruit. Somehow it adds just a little bit of the islands to any recipe its used in. A perfect example is this juicy, zesty pineapple smoothie. It just makes your day as a starter or keeps you going as a snack

Add a tablespoon of Chia seed to the mix and you get a very nutritious drink filled with all sorts of good stuff like heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia has no taste of its own so adding it won’t change the “Pineapply” results!

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 can crushed pineapple with juice (8-12 ounce can size)
  • 1/2 c. cold orange juice
  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced (TIP: Peel and slice BEFORE FREEZING!)
  • 1 cup low-fat yogurt (plain, vanilla, banana or pineapple)
  • 1 Tbsp. Chia seed
  • ½-1 cup of ice, as needed
