The apple banana smoothie is just sweet just the way it is but can be made even sweeter by adding some ingredients such as honey.
Our friend the apple is a favorite ingredient in many healthy smoothies and with good reason. As a food, the apple has only 65 calories per half cup and just two of those are from fat. The apple has very little saturated fat, sodium, or cholesterol and delivers large amounts of vitamin C, a little bit of vitamin A, and a lot of dietary fiber. As he saying goes “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. This recipe is a good way to test that!
In your favorite smoothie blender mix the following:
- One previously frozen banana peeled and sliced (TIP: peel and slice BEFORE FREEZING)
- An apple
- Half a cup fat free milk
- A cup of orange juice
- (Optional)1 tsp. honey
Everything goes into the blender at the same time and gets mixed until smooth.
