There are, quite literally, many hundreds of articles that discuss how adding oatmeal to your diet will help lower cholesterol and promote a healthy heart. This Banana Oatmeal yogurt smoothie features all of Oatmeal’s healthy properties. In the end, this recipe is a satisfying breakfast or mid morning snack.

Optionally, you can add even more nutritional value to this banana oatmeal yogurt smoothie by including a tablespoon of chia seed to the mix. Chia seed has a number of nutritional advantages including hearth healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids. Even better, Chia bring no taste of its own so adding it to the mix won’t change the delicious results at all

In your favorite blender mix:

– 1 packet of instant oatmeal or 1 cup of oatmeal rolled oats
– 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
– ½  cup of Greek vanilla yogurt
– 1 cup of soy milk
– 1 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
– 1 Tbsp. Chia seed

Combine these ingredients and blend to your favorite consistency.  Pour into a glass and garnish with a bit of cinnamon.
