The word breakfast is really two words, “break” and “fast” meaning a meal to break the fast of the night before. Traditionally, it is the first meal of the day and is consumed early, before the day’s work begins. The word is also applied to certain types of foods that are most commonly eaten at the first meal of the day such as eggs, toast, bacon, etc. Breakfast smoothies will do a great job of getting you ready to face the challenges of your day.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 container plain fat-free Greek yogurt
  • 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup of berries (fresh or frozen, your choice; strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mixed
  • 1 tbsp. Chia seed*

Pour into a chilled glass and enjoy!  This is just one of the breakfast smoothies on Best Fruit Smoothies.

*The Chia seed is an optional ingredient but, if you do choose to include it, you will be including a great deal of additional nutrition to the recipe including cholesterol fighting, heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids. Also, Chia has no real taste of its own so it will simply disappear into the recipe without changing the refreshing fruity results!
