post workout smoothie

This post workout smoothie recipe comes from the website

It is considered to be a post workout smoothie because of:

  1. The beet will reduce inflammation and improve blood flow
  2. Kale really does live up to the hype, providing a large number of minerals and vitamins to support your physical exercise

Plus, this simple smoothie tastes really good too!

In you favorite smoothie blender mix:

  • 1 cup silken tofu (confused about the difference between regular and “silken” tofu? Follow this link for the facts)
  • Half a cup frozen (or fresh) cranberries
  • Half a medium sized beet (roasted or raw)
  • Half a medium cucumber
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 orange, peeled and quartered, or half a cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 1 stalk of celery

Here is another really good smoothie recipe featuring Kale. You might want to try this one too.

Blend until smooth, then enjoy!

cranberry banana smoothie

In my opinion, cranberries are an overlooked smoothie ingredient. Probably because, by themselves, they are so tart they are hard to eat. However, it is this bold taste that makes them such a good smoothie ingredient. Even when mixed with other ingredients, it is impossible to hide cranberries. Such is the case with this cranberry banana smoothie recipe.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 cup cold cranberry juice
  • 1 previously frozen banana (peel and slice BEFORE you freeze!)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 Tbsp. Chia seed (optional)
  • Ice to taste

This delicious recipe serves two.

Cranberry Breakfast smoothie

Providing the body with a reasonable and healthy breakfast is an important key to being productive throughout the day. Those who don’t make time for feeding their body and expecting to do their best with only a Starbuck’s coffee or an energy drink are just kidding themselves and they do pay a price later in the day (you know that’s true!).

This Cranberry breakfast smoothie recipe is a good mix of energy producing fruits and fiber to power you through the morning and help prevent that mid afternoon slump that sends you out for more coffee or energy drinks.

In your favorite blender mix:

  • 1 cup cold cranberry juice
  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 5 or 6 oz. uncooked oats (about 2/3 cup)
  • 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • sweetener to taste (don’t be afraid to use sugar, this is a pretty low cal mix)
  • Ice to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. Chia seed

This Strawberry Blueberry smoothie includes Cranberry Juice for liquid instead of filtered water and the results are both tasty and very healthy.

Cranberry juice is not only tasty, but also very healthy with a mix of natural vitamins and minerals, dietary fiber and antioxidants that help fight bladder and kidney infections, and protect you against some cancers and heart disease. And blueberries, which have the highest antioxidant capacity of all fresh fruits, also help boost your immune system and fight off infections.

Its also easy to turn this strawberry blueberry smoothie treat into a nutrition powerhouse just by adding a tablespoon of Chia seed. Chia is a natural seed that adds a large measure of nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Even better, unlike Flax, Chia doesn’t have a noticeable taste of its own so adding it here won’t change the delicious results. You can order Chia directly from Amazon by clicking the link in the recipe below.

In your favorite blender mix:

1 cup frozen banana chunks *
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup cranberry juice
1 tbsp. In your favorite blender

*Bananas add a good texture and flavor to many smoothie recipes so it is a good idea to keep a bag or two of frozen banana chunks in you freezer!
