Many smoothies are fruit based and that’s more than fine. But, a healthy veggie smoothie is good too. Sometimes I get questions about whether or not veggies really work in smoothies and, trust me, they do.
Just one example is this very tasty and very healthy veggie smoothie recipe. Not a banana or strawberry in sight and yet it makes a delicious and satisfying lunch or mid-afternoon treat.
Next time, instead of a fruit smoothie give a healthy veggie smoothie like this on a try.
In your favorite blender mix:
1 large carrot (about 1 cup chopped)
2 large handfuls of spinach (about 2 cups chopped)
1 cup of apple juice
1 Tbsp. Chia seed
½-1 cup of ice cubes
If your blender isn’t the strongest, put everything except the ice in and start the blending, feeding the ice cubes in a few at a time until you get the mix to the consistency you like.
