Adding to the overall goodness of this mango spinach smoothie is the Avocado. Avocados are low in calories (just 50 per ounce) and are free of cholesterol and sodium. And, by the way, Avocados are classified as a fruit, not a vegetable! Its contribution here (besides all the nutritional goodness) is to add a creamy texture to the overall mix.
We have also added a tablespoon of Chia seed to the mix to provide even more nutrition including heart healthy, cholesterol fighting omega-3 fatty acids. Unlike the better known Flax seed, Chia has no taste of its own so adding it to the recipe won’t change the delicious results a bit.
In your favorite smoothie blender mix:
-½ Avocado, peeled and cut into chunks
-1 cup of frozen Mango chunks
-1/2 -1 cup of fresh Spinach or a mix of Spinach and Parsley
-1 cup of Diet V8 Splash® Berry Blend Juice
-1 tbsp. Chia seed (or Flax seed if you prefer)
