Refreshing — but sweet! You really have to give this Raspberry yogurt smoothie a try!

This doesn’t have much to do with the recipe but I think its an interesting use of fruit as a metaphor. On a recent television show a character used a fresh raspberry to make the case that nothing as perfectly designed and tasty could have happened by accident. Another, more skeptical, character responded that the raspberry ended up the way it is because the design ended up being the best one suited to efficiently spreading raspberry seeds.

In the end it doesn’t really matter how the Raspberry became what it is now. What it is important is that raspberries are really tasty and play very well in this smoothie recipe.

Optionally, you can add a tablespoon of chia seed to this mix to add a lot of nutritional goodies including heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Because Chia doesn’t have a taste of its own it isn’t going to change the results of the recipe.

In your favorite blender mix:

-2 kiwi, peeled and cut in chunks
-1 cup of fresh or frozen raspberries
-1 cup of low-fat plain yogurt
-1/2 cup of low-fat milk
-1 Tbsp. Chia seed (optional)

Add all together and blend until smooth.
