If you are looking for a breakfast smoothie that isn’t sweet this tomato vegetable smoothie recipe should work well. It takes only a few minutes to make and blends up easily. Serve over ice and you might even want to garnish it up with a cherry tomato or two.  Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, a very powerful natural antioxidant and also in vitamin C. This smoothie is a great way to start any day.

In your favorite smoothie blender mix:

  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup low fat plain yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Ice to Taste
  • (Optional) 1 Tbsp. Chia or Flax seed

All ingredients go into the blender at the same time and mix until smooth.
