Strawberries are a traditional smoothie ingredient because they are so versatile, Strawberries mix well with yogurts, ice creams, frozen yogurts, juices, and even other fruits like bananas, kiwis and mixed berries.
Strawberries also freeze well—so if you just can’t resist a good sale on big rich strawberries, just clean the tops and freeze them in freezer ziplock bags.
Here are two strawberry smoothie recipes you can make anytime for a quick energy boost, or for a breakfast. Both are very easy and taste great!
For a real quick mix you can combine in your blender:
-1 cup of chilled strawberries
-1 cup of low-fat yogurt (vanilla or strawberry)
Or you can create this mixed fruit smoothie for a very satisfying treat:
-2 kiwis peeled and cut in chunks
-1 cup of fresh sweet strawberries *
-¼ cup of chilled strawberry-kiwi juice (Dole)
-1 cup of low-fat vanilla yogurt (or strawberry or kiwi—your choice!)
* if this mix isn’t as sweet as you like, just add a little honey or Stevia.
